Promotion Ideas

Part of my role as Managing Editor is to promote WINOL as much as possible.
Some of my promotion ideas so far are:
  • WINOL business cards, to hand out to sports fans, interviewees and the general public.
  • WINOL banners to put up anywhere possible, in a similar fashion to the painted bedsheets that get put up for people's birthdays on roundabouts etc.
  • Some kind of summer fair event on the Dytch, but this needs a lot of planning and I need to check on any health and safety issues, for example, if its possible to have a barbeque.
  • I would also like to get people out in town in fancy dress with WINOL signs, to get more attention from the people of Winchester, and not just students from the University.
  • Possible ideas for WINOL does Comic Relief, not only to raise money but to give us some publicity.
Any other ideas would be greatly appreciated!

  1. Fancy dress is not a good idea in my opinion, we don't want to come across as a joke organisation. This is a news corp, not a circus. It seems quite childish.

However, the banners on roundabouts idea is a very good plan, especially if we can locate it on fairly busy roundabouts. Perhaps the one by Winnall Tesco?

As for Comic Relief, every year on there they get the BBC News Readers to perform a song and dance routine. Perhaps we could do the same with WINOL's main presenters? I bet Cara for one, would love it!
